I have bronchitis. Thanks to the ACA, I was able to get medicine for $0. #ThanksObama

LIES.
that came from taxes I paid.

Well, let my know how much I owe you and I’ll drop a few pennies in the mail. War comes from taxes you paid, and I personally dislike the amount I pay going for that… Maybe we should check “yes” or “no” on our 1040 forms this year for allocation of tax dollars.
I’m sorry you think I’m lying, but I’m not. I qualified for the Medicaid expansion under the ACA, which is partially funded through taxpayer revenue. I don’t think the IRS mailed you a letter saying, “Nah nah nah nah naaaaaaah! This year’s tax dollars went to pay for medicine for poor people mwahahaha!” Who knows? Maybe YOUR portion of tax dollars went to a Hellfire missile that took out a village in Afghanistan. Ooh, how exciting for you!
Comfort yourself with that thought as I use my inhaler, which I would not have been able to afford without the ACA.

#gonna need obamacare to afford treatment for that burn jackass

what the fuck is wrong with Americans who aren’t on board with free healthcare. I’m Canadian and I don’t care that I pay extra taxes so a little boy in Alberta can have open heart surgery, or an elderly man in Nova Scotia can get the heart medication he desperately needs. It’s called taking care of your people. I’m glad I pay so that people can have a good quality of life. It’s called being a decent fucking human being.

It’s also called it costs a lot less to pay for medicine from Walgreens than the hospital stay they would need if it was left untreated.

Today I realized that when Harry went to go visit his parents’ grave for the first time, James and Lily had already spent more time sharing a grave than they had alive together, and that is how I almost got into a car accident.

HP Goblet of Fire Headcanon: Beauxbatons was primarily a Muslim wizarding school.

(photo from livesandliesofwizards, which was the first thing I thought of when I ran into this passage while rereading the Harry Potter books)

(and yes I know the horses drink whisky, which is not exactly halal, sshhh)

Its was french. It s
Was so clearly french.

Literally French. ……

Because French Muslims do not exist and no Muslims ever speak French and Muslim schools don’t exist in France and if they do they must be really shitty and there are no key Muslim educators in France at all and there’s never been any history of Islamic culture and politics in the Pottermore-confirmed Pyreenes, nooooooo, it is très impossible! Astagfirrulah!

except…NO.

learn some fuckin’ social studies and history and current affairs, people.

Listen… Just…

Think about how many African countries were invaded by/occupied by France. Think about how many of those countries had a majority of Muslim citizens.

Then go look into African immigration to France (because guess what, people who lived under French rule for decades and were exposed to French culture and grew up speaking the French language want to live in France sometimes. And in fact, do live in france.)

I would say that people’s lack of basic social studies knowledge boggles my mind, but then I remember that some people in my creative writing class didn’t understand how one of my characters could be French and Vietnamese at the same time.

Some words you all may want to look up:

  • Diaspora
  • Imperialism
  • Colonialism
  • Post-colonialism

Some concepts that you may want to disabuse yourself of:

  • That the US’s diverse population is somehow unique
  • That there are no people of color in Europe
  • That you know anything at all about history, ethnicity, social studies, or race relations. Admitting this may help prevent you from making an ass of yourself online in the future.

I would argue that it may not be primarily Muslim, but I do agree that Madam Maxime would fit with that. I always like to think of Beaubaxtons being in an area of France with high population diversity and acceptance. Also, depending on its location, like say the southeast of the country, it’s entirely reasonable to say that it draws students from the western side of the Middle East, and the north of Africa. I mean, we know Hogwarts draws from all over northern Europe, so why can’t Beaubaxtons draw from southern Europe and the Mediterranean? Being more southern would also explain why they didn’t have cloaks, if their school is in a warmer climate. Also solves the whiskey problem from the first comment.

reblogging for ALLLLLLLLL the commentary :D

A school in Brazil had all its students protesting after a transgender girl got reprimanded after changing into a female uniform. All the students, including the boys, wore a skirt to school on September 1st in a way to show support to the girl, who still can’t wear her female uniform but the school says that they’re “reviewing the code of conduct.”
